| About Us |
You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be,
I had a mother who read to me.
~Strickland Gillian
The burgeoning educated middle class of today aspires to live through their children’s dreams.
The escalation in children’s publishing industry authenticates the dynamics of the publishing scenario.
BPI has carved its own niche in this busy place and made a distinct mark.
Inception and journey
Initiated in Bombay in 1999 by Jai Saxena, a maverick dreamer, BPI INDIA PVT. LTD. flourished under his able guidance.
A dynamic team of professionals, who later connected with BPI, only fuelled his crazy creativity.
This was one jamboree of enthusiastic minds with varied aptitudes working steadfastly towards a single goal,
that of creating a benchmark in the publishing industry.
The BPI publishing comprised books of all streams; business books under the imprint of Business Books Inc. and
general books under Eashwar. Zaika catered to books on cuisine and children’s books were published under Neve.
Unique in their approach, content and design, BPI books were highly cherished.
Nad, Understanding Raga Music, a bestseller, has been a benchmark for books on music in India.
With attractively illustrated Zaika cookery books, BPI created frenzy in the then dull cookbook scenario.
Asha Khatau’s Best of Epicure’s Vegetarian Cuisines of the World went on to win the prestigious Gourmand Award for the
Best Cookbook in the world, along with eight more cookbooks from BPI!
An adventurous new beginning was made once more in the millennium year, when a series of academic books were
conceptualised and created which encompassed various syllabi. Illustrious academicians and teachers as core editorial
group were instrumental in making these books highly contemporary and interactive.
These new-look series were a tremendous hit with the children.
The challenges ahead
Without resting on its laurels, BPI has since then persistently endeavoured to raise its own bar.
Publishing activities in India were becoming area centric and Delhi was fast emerging as the new publishing hub.
With a broader vision and aiming high, BPI once more took the plunge and shifted the offices to Delhi and has not
looked back ever since.
Publishing for children soon became the prime focus at BPI. BPI’s core competency in quality content and
design gave every book an edge over others. Reference, pre-school help, activity, academic, self-learning and
young fiction are a few areas of publishing and BPI showcases more than 500 titles under these diverse categories and languages.
TV! If children are entertained by two letters, imagine the fun they'll have with twenty-six. Open your child's imagination. Open a book.
Understanding the vibrant needs of readers and the invasion of television and technology, BPI has successfully reshaped modern
content in accordance with children’s changing taste and created several books. With partners such as Turner International,
Marvel, POGO and Encyclopedia Britannica, a variety of reference, activity and self-learning books have been developed.
A series of Art and Craft books, in association with POGO, the popular television channel, has won accolades of one and all.
Another series of self-learning books on art which carry tutorials on how to paint with water colours, how to use colour pencils etc.,
is also immensely popular with children.
CyberBPI
BPI‘s newly launched interactive digital programme is one more giant step towards reaching the parents,
teachers and children in an effectual way. This portal of BPI will prove to be a great interactive tool for all.
The strong foundation of content and design has been appreciated by international publishers of repute
and has resulted in co-publishing with many of them. BPI has successfully created a neat base in exports too.
Entertain and Educate
BPI Edutainment, the toy division of BPI, though in its nascent stage, has already created an impression in the
competitive toy market. Popular cartoon characters such as BenTen, Bakugan, Spidey and Friends and Powerpuff Girls
have been creatively infused with beautiful illustrations to design dazzling puzzles and educational games for ages 3 plus.
These popular brands of toys have reached every nook and cranny of the ever-growing Indian market.
Brand BPI
In children’s publishing today, BPI has become a brand to reckon with!
Adherence to quality in content and design, the dynamic approach of BPI team and the exploratory
mindsets of its members have been instrumental in this journey.
BPI pledges to strive towards maintaining this tradition and soar higher!!!
